The redevelopment plan consists of converting Amber Park into luxurious living spaces for the residents of Singapore. They want to include four, 25 story blocks with approximately 800 units. They even plan on designing a basement parking garage to give guests and residents convenient parking. Currently, this site has an area of 213,675 square feet and an allowed gross floor area (GFA) of approximately 598,290 square feet. The developers plan on utilizing every inch wisely to give future occupants the best living spaces possible.

The history of Amber Road dates all the way back to 1921. It was named after the Elias family’s clan name. This Jewish family was very well known in the area because of their various properties and business in Singapore. They also have other places named after them such as the Amber Building on Malacca Street and Amber Mansions located on Orchard Road.

Amber Road is part of the District 15 locale which houses the 200-unit Amber Park. This complex was completed in 1986 and ironically CDL was one of the developers. It has been put up for sale a total of four times since it was founded. Grounded in a great location, this site has a freehold status which is very rare in Singapore.

Part of the reason the location of Amber Road is so historic is that it was the place where two tragic events marked Singapore history. This was the site of Operation Sook Ching and it was also a greatly affected area during the Maria Hertogh riots.
